The third season of Baywatch aired from 1992-1993. It saw the debut of characters such as popular C.J. Parker, Matt Brody, Stephanie Holden and Summer Quinn as well as one-time character Jimmy Slade. Series that follows a group of lifeguards on a beach in Malibu, then Hawaii. ‘The watchmen of the beach’ reaped great success during the broadcast of its eleven seasons.

Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff, ‘The Fantastic Car’) is the leader of a group of brave vigilantes on the Malibu beach in Los Angeles. Tucked away in a tropical paradise, the group of vigilantes are in charge of saving lives in the waters of the Pacific. From earthquakes to people drowning, the series tells the day to day of the coastguards, as well as their personal lives and intimate relationships.

On his team, Mitch relies on vigilantes like C.J. (Pamela Anderson, ‘Superhero movie’, ‘Scary Movie 3’, ‘Barb Wire’), Shauni (Erika Eleniak, ‘Maximum Alert’, ‘ET The alien’), Hobie (Brandon Call, ‘On the edge of suspicion’ ) and Brad (Chris Fiore), although throughout the series will have the help of new lifeguards and former colleagues.

Lifeguard layoffs at Baywatch. Lots of them.

Carmen Electra and Donna D'Errico are among five starlets turning in their bathing suits at the end of this season.

E! Online columnist Ted Casablanca predicted the bloodbath last month. ('They're getting rid of everybody except for David Hasselhoff, of course,' a source told Casablanca.)

A spokesman for the long-running bathing-suit drama confirmed the cuts Monday.

Goners for season No. 9: Electra (as lifeguard Lani McKensie), D'Errico (as Donna Marco), Traci Bingham (as Jordan Tate), Marliece Andrada (as Skylar Bergman) and Angelica Bridges (as Lt. Taylor Walsh).

D'Errico's publicist told E! Online that she is leaving the series--and not the other way around. The actress chose to exit to pursue other roles. Ditto for Electra, or so says her camp.

Among the survivors of this TV-land Moldavian massacre: Gena Lee Nolin, Jeremy Jackson and David Hasselhoff, 'of course.'

At least two new cast members will be added, including Brooke Burns, who played 'The Girl' on Ally McBeal, the delivery worker who distracted the male partners of Cage, Fish & Associates.

The drastic downsizing has 'nothing to do with money,' a show insider says.

Hence, next season, the series will up the CPR quotient and pull the plug on extraneous Baywatch excursions.

'Baywatch viewers really respond to the action stories that take place on the beach,' says Nichols.

The series has run through dozens of pin-up types since its debut in 1989. Alumni include Pam Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth and Nicole Eggert.
